The Writer's Toolbox - Tips and Tricks

When Less Isn't Fewer

Choosing the correct term "less" or "fewer" is a common grammatical dilemma. Fortunately, the test for making the right choice is easy. If the thing you are describing can be counted, then "fewer" is correct. If it comes in bulk or otherwise can't be counted, then "less" is the right choice. Example: There is less supervision on the playground because fewer people are volunteering.

Success Stories

"My experience working with Yvonne was a very enjoyable one. The professional and inviting nature with which she conducts herself made it a pleasure to answer questions and tell my story as I was interviewed about my chiropractic practice. Even more enjoyable was the end result of a flattering article which captured the essence of the information and presented it in an entertaining light."

Brenna Bacon Ranieli, DC Chiropractic and Massage Center of Hagerstown

“In spite of the fact that I am a professional speaker, I always get a little nervous when I am interviewed for any kind of publication. Yvonne put me immediately at ease and made me feel as if I were talking with a dear friend. She was able to establish immediate rapport and the conversation flowed easily so I was able to be myself. Because of that, she captured the essence of my personality and the event I hosted in such a way that she made me proud to read it. Good writing is an art and Yvonne has mastered her craft with much success.”

Julie Gaver, Speaker, Trainer, Author, Creator of “Soles of Love in the Garden” charity event

"Well done! Thank you for your feature on Cumberland Valley School of Music. Everybody who has seen it has mentioned how refreshing it was to see the “story” being told and just not facts and figures. You truly captured what it is we do and what CVSM is all about. Very engaging and personal. Thanks again!!!"
